What would be the way/task to highlight /annotate text from a variable span of characters to be decided by the annotator?

I am seeking to annotate text at a character level, i.e. I want the annotator to select from a given character to another one (this may include from '.T' to 'I want to mark this whole phrase.'. Is it possible to do this pdf-highlight-like annotation in prodi.gy?
